And He said unto me, "My grace is sufficient for thee: for my strength is made perfect in weakness. Most gladly therefore will I rather glory in my infirmities, that the power of Christ may rest upon me."

Plasma Exchange Round 1- Success

PRAISE THE LORD!!!

Princess did amazing during the exchange and the total procedure took less than 3 hours.  She was monitored the whole time.  I am excited to say that many of your prayers were answered as her heart rate never elevated to a concerned level, her blood pressure did dip some, but not to where any of the staff were concerned.  True answers will come at tomorrow morning's blood work which will give us more guidance as to whether Princess would be able to tolerate another exchange tomorrow.

I am so proud of my wife for life!!!  She has endured so much over these last few weeks and now we hopefully are making progress.  She has endured for so long and without complaint.  She truly is an inspiration in not giving up and has taken these last two weeks in stride, though they have been some of the most exhausting, taxing, and trying times in recent memory.  To just paint a brief picture, Princess has now totaled approximately 50 seizures in just the first ten days of September.  For comparison, she only had 54 for the entire month of August.  Amazingly, the Lord has upheld her and done amazing things through her.

Assuming that her blood work comes back with good numbers tomorrow, we should be able to do a second exchange.  The goal is at least 5 maybe 7 total exchanges.

Please pray that:
  • Princess' blood pressure will remain high (120/80- textbook normal)
  • Princess' Calcium levels to remain elevated enough to continue the exchange
  • Princess' Iron levels increase
  • We'll start seeing results of the Plasma Exchange procedure (i.e., no more seizures)
  • While the docs are saying this procedure will only produce a temporary effect if it works, that it would not be temporary, but rather a permanent fix!
  • For our overall communication with the docs, staff, nurses, and residents.
Thank you again for all your prayers and support.  It has truly been a long exhausting two weeks of being in the hospital.  And, totally worth it as we share God's story through our lives and truly the great things He has done!
